In modern life, advance technology attaches to us everywhere. Among the technology, a MIG welder is an essential tool. What is a Mig welder, and why you need this? A Mig welder helps your devices making the job more straightforward. To develop home tools like furniture or construction sites, need several tools to prepare for design and build a well living condition.

In this condition, a Mig helps to make or resize tools in a quick moment. Where it used most? Most of the construction sites, furniture develop mills, and tools developer well renown about Mig. By its using sides, they face some mig welding troubleshooting issues. In this troubleshooting issues, have some common problems and solution.

The expert well recognized the common issues and resolution. Cause: There are several features and types of Mig in this century. Some uses for tools are shaping and some applications to develop new tools. In the examples of the machine, they may not start or become hang for many reasons. The reason are :. If the switch is okay then plugs and rest function will work correctly, to get swift action, use digital Mig that helps you to monitor self the power supply and your machine overall loading performance.

Give rest self and your device after running 20 minutes at once shift. Then start after 10 minutes break and find your machine as newer as like the first touch. Solution: By switching liner and connection, it helps to replace things, worn and get back your job in quick time. Welder become defected :If you notice your welder get jammed or not turn on, it means that some parts of the MIG itself need to malfunction.

These parts need to take some actions and repaired. Below are some common welding defects discuss with solutions. Cause: A widespread welding defect may be as a result of improper wire feeding, which is caused by a worn-out the drive roller from a welder.

Solution : Periodically remove the drive rolls to clean up your welder to use it next time as fresh. Use a wire brush to remove the dirt on the liner. By doing this, it removes pressure and helps to hold in hand smoothly and operate. Also, inspect the drive rolls time to time for wear, and replace if it is worn-out.

Cause : Small welding defects occur when the tip of the welding gun is worn-out. When this happens, the solder will not process correctly. Solutions: Replace the tip from the welding gun immediately. Cause : Permeability may occur on the surface as a result of inadequate gas flow or bad wiring. It is a prevalent welding defect.

There is another reason is, gas permeability factor it arises due to Inconsistent gas shield. It also happens by over lead to constant problems.

Permeability occurs when the shielding gas altered and air contaminates the weld puddle.A welding machine is a complex and sophisticated device. Even if a small thing goes wrong, there will be a drastic effect on the welding machine as well as the welding work. If anything is wrong, the welding machine might not work properly or may not even start. It is not always necessary that the whole unit will need to be replaced, there are some problems that can be found and fixed by the user itself or one can get a help from another experienced user.

Knowing some of the troubleshooting tips will be a great help to the user, as this would save a lot of time and prevent unnecessary waste of money on repairing shops.

Here are some of the problems that a welding machine usually encounters, and also the cause and solutions for those problems. First of all it is important to know the various problems that a welding machine encounters; one can check the various parts of the unit and fix the problem. It can be due to reasons like blown up power supply line fuse, dead power circuit, overloading or wrong voltage input.

If the problem is with circuit, then the input voltage must be checked and corrected. The voltage input should be checked and the input must always be as per given in the manual. Cause : Sometimes the welding machine starts up and is ready to work, but suddenly blows fuse. There can be either of the two reasons behind this, one is the fuse might be too small and the other is short circuit in the connections.

Solution : One must check the exact cause of the problem. If the reason is fuse, then the size of the fuse must be changed and increased, but if the reason is short circuit, then the connections must be checked and corrected and also insulation of the leads is necessary. Cause : Many a times the welding machine suddenly stops during welding.

Mig welding Troubleshooting – Common problems and solutions

This problem might be due to obstruction in ventilation, dysfunctional of internal cooling fan or overloading. Solution : One should check if all the ventilation cases are free and clean.

If unclean, then one must clean those properly so that there will be no obstruction in ventilation. If the internal cooling fan is not working, then the connections and main lead must be repaired or replaced in order to make the cooling fan function again. One should never overload the machine and do the work only according to the instructed duty cycle.

Solution : One should never use the polarity switch when the welder is under load, as this might damage the function of the polarity switch. When it comes to the metal fabrication process, welding is one of the most effective methods to bond materials. GMAW is known as one of the easiest and simplest wedding processes that you can do. In fact, the whole process is simple since it is so easy to control because you only need to operate one element- the welding gun.

However, always remember that even when working with the simplest tool you will have some problems. One of the common problems that you may encounter in this process is that the MIG welder not arcing. Having enough knowledge about basic MIG welding troubleshooting methods can help you in finding the right answer to the issue and continue with your task.

If not, then make sure to fix it. It might be obvious to some of you, but it is important to note that ground clamp must be connected on a clean surface. If you try to get a good connection while welding heavy rusty plates then most likely you will not get a spark out of your welder.

In addition, your ground clamp may start to malfunction as time passes by. Most of the time, the wires inside the machine get loose or the ground clamp itself needs a replacement. Make sure that all the wires inside the machine are intact and are not oxidized. If that is the case and you have some mechanical skills, unplug the machine from the power outlet and clean the wires one by one.

Keep in mind that welder needs the power to work and run. However, if you have poor wirings, then this may cause problems. When using a small MIG welder you must have around volts to volts, you can check it using a multi-meter.

GMAW Common problems – Welder Not Arcing

A great idea would be to make sure that you have not blown the fuses. On the other hand, a short extension cord that you usually use in lighting up your Christmas lights is not enough to run a amp MIG welder. As a piece of advice, get a nice extension cord with thick wires rated at 30 amps at least for small welderas it is more sufficient to run a MIG welder. This one from Amazon should hold up pretty well. Bear in mind that a MIG welder requires clean base metals thus, if you are trying to weld on a surface that has oil, zinc, old paint, rust, and other coatings your MIG welder may not start an arc, and even if it does, more than likely you will not get good penetration.

For this reason, we recommend that you clean the surface that you will be welding, using a grinder, sander or at least wire brush to get rid of the coating.Sure, ad-blocking software does a great job at blocking ads, but it also blocks useful features of our website.

welder won t weld

Here is my problem After letting it cool, I picked the piece up by the tubing and it fell off and separated from the plate - the 3 other pieces of tubing separated after a slight hammer blow sideways to the tubing.

I used a wire wheel to clean both the plate and the tubing. Then I clamped the pieces together. The ground clamp was attached close to the welds on the plate. I am using a Lincoln A wire welder with the settings of "C" and "3" and it seemed to be hot enough. When I attempted to re-weld these, I increased the amperage and wire speed and it burned thru the tubing really quick.

I had to plate metal back on the tubing and then attempted to grind. I am using flux core 0. I profess that I am not a professional welder - not even a novice - basically I can get 2 pieces to stick together usually but am now asking for help to remedy this problem.
